Spanish 21 is played the same as standard blackjack with the following exceptions:
- Player blackjack always beats a dealer blackjack and pays 3 to 2
- Spanish 21 decks consist of the following cards: Ace – 9, Jack, Queen, King (no 10’s)
- Player’s total of 21 always beats a dealer’s total of 21
- Players may split cards of equal value including Aces creating up to four hands – hitting and doubling of split hands, including Aces, is allowed
- Players may double down once with two or more cards, on any total, including after splitting - there are no bonuses on doubled or split hands
- Double down rescue means that after doubling down, a player may rescue (take back) the doubled portion of the bet and forfeit the original wager
- Late surrender is permitted and is described as allowing a player to surrender one-half their bet and withdraw from the hand (no surrender is allowed if the dealer has a blackjack)

In addition to the regular 21 bet, a player can bet that either or both of their first two cards will exactly match the dealer’s up card in rank. Example: a four matches a four, a Jack matches only a Jack, etc. To play, a player makes a Match the Dealer wager by placing a bet in the Match the Dealer betting circle. A regular 21 bet is needed in order to make a Match the Dealer bet. The minimum of $1 or the maximum of an amount up to or equal to the regular 21 bet is required.
Match the Dealer payoffs
- One non-suited match 4 to 1
- Two non-suited matches 8 to 1
- One suited match 9 to 1
- One suited/one non-suited match 13 to 1
- Two suited matches 18 to 1
There is also a Super Bonus payoff that requires no special or side bet. When a player is betting from $5 to $24 and their first three cards are suited sevens and the dealer’s up card is any seven, that player wins a $1,000 Super Bonus or a $5,000 Super Bonus when a $25 minimum bet is made. All other players of that round receive a $50 Envy bonus.
